Curriculum
This 12-month course is divided into four terms, each covering essential topics in Western classical vocal training. The curriculum includes:
Term 1
- Sulādhi Sapta Talas
- Formation of 35 Talas, detailed study
- Study of Aṅgas and names of Sapta talas
- Thathakaras Vocalization of 35 Talas in Trikala
Term 2
- Laya exercises
- Adi Tala Exercise
- Misra chāppu
- Implementation of the above on other Talas
Term 3
- Konnakkol
- Vocalization of the basic lessons of Mridangam in Trikala
- Thaniyavarthanam Vocalization in Adi Tala
- Thathakara of Chāppu Talas
Term 4
- Performance of Layavinyasam
- Vocalization of Pancha Jāthi Tha-Thi-Ki-Na-Dhom in Trikala
- Implementation of the above on other Talas
Indian Konnakol are available both online and at our institute in Ernakulam, Kerala. If you prefer in-person coaching and are located in Kerala, we invite you to visit our institute.
