Indian Sitar
Curriculum
This 12-month course is divided into four terms, each covering essential topics in Western classical vocal training. The curriculum includes:
Term 1
- Posture and holding the Sitar
- Positioning of hands
- Basic Sitar strokes Level 01
Term 2
- Learn to play Sargam Exercises
- Exercises to master Jaala
- Learning different Stroke patterns & Exercises Level 02
Term 3
- Learn a basic Raga with a variety of exercises like Gamak, etc.
- Learn Vilimbith Gath – a slow composition along with Sthayi and Anthara
- Learn improvisation Paltas
Term 4
- Learning Drithgath of the same Raga – speed composition along with Sthayi and Anthara
- Learn improvisation Paltas playing Jaala
- Closing of the improvisation with Rithihaayis
Indian Sitar sessions are available both online and at our institute in Ernakulam, Kerala. If you prefer in-person coaching and are located in Kerala, we invite you to visit our institute.

- Please ensure students have their own respective Musical Instruments required for each course prior to commencement of the Course.
